Changing iPhone location, explained simply.
Find clear answers about setup, popular apps, privacy, routes, and getting your real location back when you finish.
What is PinShift?
PinShift is a Mac app for changing the developer-simulated location on an unlocked, trusted iPhone you own or are authorized to test. PinShift GPS is an alternate descriptive name for the same product, not a separate app. Fixed location is free; movement and route modes require Pro.
See how PinShift worksHow can I change my iPhone location from a Mac?
Connect your own iPhone to your Mac by USB, unlock it, accept Trust, and enable Developer Mode if iOS asks. In PinShift, search for a place or choose a point on the map, start the location, and restore your real location when you finish. PinShift uses Apple's local developer-location services; it does not modify the GPS hardware.
See the simple setup guideDoes PinShift require a jailbreak?
No. PinShift’s supported workflow uses a stock iPhone that you own or are authorized to test: connect it by USB, unlock it, accept Trust, and enable Developer Mode if iOS requires it. PinShift uses Apple’s developer-location services and does not bypass Apple security controls.
Review supported iPhone setupDoes PinShift require an account?
PinShift Free does not require a PinShift account or sign-up. PinShift Pro uses a pseudonymous license tied to a random installation ID, and Stripe hosts payment; it does not create a conventional PinShift user profile.
Review account and license dataDoes PinShift need my Apple ID?
No. PinShift does not request your Apple ID or Apple Account credentials. The supported device flow uses a local USB connection, the iPhone’s Trust prompt, and Developer Mode when iOS requires it.
Review the supported setupCan PinShift change my location in Find My?
PinShift can send a selected location through iOS developer services, but it cannot confirm that Find My has adopted or displayed it. Find My can use caching, connectivity, and other signals independently. Always check the result yourself and do not use PinShift to mislead anyone who relies on your shared location.
Does PinShift work with Apple Maps?
A user-reported manual check found that Apple Maps reflected a selected PinShift coordinate, but PinShift does not read or certify the Maps result and cannot guarantee behavior across iOS or Maps versions. Test a short Fixed location on your own device, then restore and verify the real position.
Read the Apple Maps testing notesDoes PinShift work with Snapchat or Snap Map?
Snapchat decides how Snap Map and other location features interpret iPhone location, so behavior can change between app and iOS versions. PinShift never signs in to Snapchat or edits your account. Check the result in the app and follow Snapchat's current terms and privacy controls.
Does PinShift change Instagram location tags?
No. Instagram controls place tags, account data, and what it shows in the app. PinShift can provide a selected iPhone location through Apple's developer services, but it does not edit a post, add a location tag, access Instagram, or guarantee what Instagram displays.
How do I restore my real location?
Use the always-available Stop and restore real location action before unplugging the iPhone. If a clear attempt fails, PinShift deliberately keeps the interface in a potentially-active state and leaves the restore action available so you can retry after reconnecting or unlocking the device.
Restore troubleshootingDoes PinShift require Developer Mode?
It can. PinShift works through Apple's developer-location services and never bypasses iOS security requirements. Your iPhone may ask you to enable Developer Mode, restart, and confirm the change on the device.
Does PinShift upload my location?
PinShift does not upload your location history to its billing service and has no advertising analytics or default telemetry. Favorites, recent places, and redacted activity stay on your Mac. Map search, tiles, street routing, update checks, billing actions, and missing developer-support files can contact the providers disclosed in the privacy page when you use those features.
Review the privacy detailsWhat is included in PinShift Free and Pro?
Free includes Fixed location, map search and coordinates, core device setup, up to three favorites, and the always-free Restore Real Location action. Pro unlocks Precision, Micro Route, Pro Route, unlimited favorites, and advanced route functionality. There is no time-limited trial or advertising; Free is the trial.
Compare Free and ProHow do I buy or manage PinShift Pro?
Start the purchase from PinShift on the Mac you want to activate. Choose a Pro control or open Settings, select Monthly, Annual, or Lifetime, and complete Stripe Checkout in your browser. PinShift reopens to activate that installation. One license supports up to two active Macs, and subscription management and cancellation are available from Settings.
See plans and pricesCan I set one place or follow a route?
Yes. Fixed keeps your iPhone at one selected place. Micro Route creates a small continuous loop, while Pro Route follows a multi-stop walking, cycling, or driving route with pace and stop controls.
Does PinShift need an internet connection?
USB device discovery, manual coordinates, local favorites, and the simulation bridge are local. Internet access is used when you request map tiles, address search, reverse geocoding, street routing, a missing developer-support resource, or a signed app-update check. If a map provider is unavailable, manual coordinates remain available.
See every documented network requestWhy does an app still show the old location?
A completed simulation command does not force every app to refresh. An app may cache an earlier coordinate, request location only in certain lifecycle states, or apply its own permission and accuracy rules. Confirm PinShift is active, then make an app you control request location again. PinShift cannot verify Find My behavior.
Troubleshoot a stale app locationHow does PinShift update after it is installed?
An updater-enabled desktop release checks once when PinShift opens without blocking launch. A newer signed version shows Update now and Later, while Settings provides Check for updates. The package signature is verified before installation, and updating stays blocked while device work is running or restore may still be required.
Read the app update guideDoes one Mac download work on Apple Silicon and Intel?
Only if the release panel explicitly identifies a qualified universal build. PinShift's native app and packaged Python sidecar can contain architecture-specific code, so an Apple Silicon DMG must not be relabeled as Intel-compatible. The single download activates only after the exact same DMG is inspected and clean-install tested on both processor families.
Check current Mac availabilityWhich macOS and iOS versions does PinShift support?
PinShift’s declared Mac requirement is macOS 11 or later. A public download appears only when one universal Apple Silicon and Intel build passes the release checks. PinShift has version-aware device paths below iOS 17 and for iOS 17 or later, but Apple can change developer services between releases; check the current compatibility notes and test the exact iPhone and iOS build you rely on.
Check current compatibility requirementsCheck the qualified Mac releaseCan developers use PinShift for iPhone location testing?
Yes. Developers and QA teams can use PinShift on an authorized iPhone to test fixed coordinates, geofence boundaries, movement, and routes. Fixed mode is free; Precision, Micro Route, and Pro Route require Pro. Each test should end with Stop and restore real location.
Open the location-testing guidesIs PinShift an alternative to iAnyGo?
PinShift may be a suitable Mac alternative when you need a free fixed-location mode, no PinShift account, no jailbreak, local-first saved locations, and an explicit restore workflow. Compare current requirements and features yourself; PinShift does not claim feature-for-feature parity with iAnyGo.
Compare PinShift Free and ProCan I use PinShift with Pokémon GO or another location-based game?
PinShift is not a Pokémon GO spoofing or cheating service and is not affiliated with Niantic, Nintendo, or The Pokémon Company. Niantic's terms prohibit falsifying a device's location. Do not use PinShift to evade game rules, gain an unfair advantage, or bypass platform controls. Use it only for lawful development, QA, education, demos, or consented tests on authorized devices.
Read Niantic's current termsReview PinShift's appropriate-use boundariesIs the Mac download signed and notarized?
The download panel is driven by a fail-closed release manifest. It enables the universal Mac release only when its DMG is Developer ID signed, hardened, notarized, stapled, checksum-published, and qualified through macOS Gatekeeper on Apple Silicon and Intel. If those fields are absent or invalid, the download remains unavailable.
